For decades, I helped brands and other people tell their stories.

Working with creators for the last 10+ years completely changed how I thought about storytelling. They saw how traditional media gatekept stories (and I saw it too) and said, “fuck it, I’m going to make it myself.” I can’t tell you how inspiring that was. To see people who weren’t waiting for someone else to say their stories were worth telling.

And that’s why I created A Nordic Heart…

It’s a space for Nordic stories often left out of the dominant narrative. Stories about Indigenous rights, racism, identity, belonging, and histories rewritten to maintain a perfect image of the region.

  • Keira Kronvold: Fighting Denmark's Parental Competency Tests

    What happens when a story is being shared everywhere within a community, but barely heard beyond it?

    I first noticed Keira Kronvold’s story being shared across Facebook by people in the Inuit community. Denmark’s controversial parental competency tests were a major point of discussion, but the story had received little attention beyond the region.

    Someone from the community eventually sent me the story directly and asked if I was going to speak about it. By then, I was already researching the tests, trying to understand why people described them as discriminatory. The more I learned, the more I felt the story needed to be told.

    I told Keira’s story through Instagram, following her fight to challenge the system and get her child back. It went viral, reaching journalists, politicians, Hollywood actors, and award-winning activists around the world. The case was later picked up by BBC News, and the United Nations spoke out about Keira’s case. My work was explicitly referenced during her High Court case, and the international visibility helped build pressure around the use of FKU tests, which Denmark subsequently ended for Inuit parents.

  • The Homes That Changed so-called Greenland

    How did a housing project become a story about colonisation?

    When I first visited so-called Greenland in 2018, I found myself wondering why the homes were colourful. That curiosity led me to look at how Inuit homes had evolved from the Thule Culture to what we see across the country today, and where those traditions began to intersect with Denmark’s colonial housing policies.

    At the centre of the story is the resettlement project of the 1950s and 60s, which not only reshaped the country’s homes, but reshaped Inuit society. I interviewed more than 20 people, 14 of them Inuit, giving people from the community space to share their own histories and experiences.

    What started with a question about houses became a story about colonisation, displacement and the lasting impact of the decisions that shaped where and how people lived.

  • Andrée Expedition: Sweden's Failed Attempt to the North Pole

    A journey to understand an obsession.

    When the director of the North Pole Expedition museum in Longyearbyen asked me why I was so fascinated by Andrée’s Expedition, I realised I couldn’t answer.

    So I set out to find out. I travelled to 80° North on an expedition vessel, where Andrée launched his 1897 polar expedition. I then travelled to his hometown of Gränna and on to Stockholm, where the explorers’ remains arrived 33 years later. I ended the journey at their final resting place.

    While filming the story, I realised I wasn’t just telling Andrée’s story; I was trying to understand why his story of adventure, obsession, love and loss had stayed with me for so long.

  • Black History in the Nordic Region - Forthcoming

    What does Blackness look like across the region?

    This forthcoming story started with a conversation that made me curious about Black history beyond the figures I already knew. It got me thinking about how long Black communities have been part of different Nordic countries, who some of the key figures have been, and how those histories are understood today.

    The story became a way to start asking those questions, and to lay some of the groundwork for the next body of work from A Nordic Heart.

The long-form docs live on YouTube (and I’m currently producing the next batch), alongside mid-form docs on Instagram. I work independently from research and development through interviews, filming, presenting, editing and publishing. I do this work as a one-woman show, which is a lot. But I wouldn’t have it any other way…at least for now. Because it means I can produce the stories I want to tell, in the way I want to tell them. Stories that make something, or someone’s experience, more visible.

So, after years of helping otherS tell their stories, I’m finally making space for some of my own, too.
